A Garage Sale
That Makes a Difference.
For over 20
years, Listowel Baptist Church has collected no longer needed goods from their congregation
and this generous community. Collecting, processing and cleaning occurs
throughout the year in preparation for the annual garage sale held on the May
long weekend. This year’s total proceeds were $14, 800 and were distributed to
improve our community and support mission projects in South Africa and
Bolivia. Locally a defibrillator was purchased for the church, an IV pump
was purchased for $4,500 for the emergency department of Listowel Memorial
Hospital and support was provided to a North Perth YFC/Youth Unlimited summer
intern.
Debbie Loree,
head of the garage sale committee stated, “Our goals are to reduce the garbage
in the landfill, provide items to those who especially need them at affordable
prices, provide a venue to those who must downsize besides raising funds for
local and international projects. The garage sale has grown to a size
that only with an army of dedicated volunteers can it happen.”
This is the second year to receive such a generous donation from the Listowel Baptist Church, many thanks!
